Carolyn Gilder's Obituary
Carolyn Gilder (nee Benner), age 71, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away, Sunday, December 10, 2006, at her home following a long illness.
Born in Elyria, she lived in Duluth for the past 26 years moving from Middletown, Ohio. She previously lived in North Ridgeville.
Mrs. Gilder was a Home Economics teacher for North Ridgeville High School in the 1960-1970's.
She also taught adults how to tailor clothing at Elyria High School in the evenings.
She was a former member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, North Ridgeville and an member of First United Methodist Church, Duluth, Georgia and belong to the Little Stitches Sewing Club. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Donald Ralph Gilder; daughters, Beth Goldsmith of Norcross, Georgia, Joy Garcia of San Juan, Puerto Rico; sons, Kent of Duluth, Georgia, Clark of Alpharetta, Georgia, Chad of Duluth, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; sisters, Susan Lawyer of Marblehead and Melinda Foor of North Ridgeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Hope Benner.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 36363 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. David Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgeville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
