Carolyn Foster's Obituary
Carolyn Foster (nee Clendenin), age 68, of Elyria died Monday at her home following a long illness.
She was born in Charleston, WV. She had resided in Elyria the past 30 years moving from North Ridgeville. She had previously lived in St. Louis, Missouri for 11 years.
Mrs. Foster graduated from West Virginia University and received her Master Degree in Social Work from Washington University, in St. Louis, Missouri.
She retired in 1997 from Kaiser Permanente in Parma and Brookpark where she was a Psychiatric Social Worker for 20 years. While living in St. Louis she had worked at Jewish Family Services and the St. Louis County Health Dept. and worked as a Girl Scout Professional in Springfield , IL. After moving to Ohio, she worked at Murray Ridge and the Lorain County Family Services Alcoholism Program.
She enjoyed photography, computers and traveling. She won the Hall of Fame Award from the Erie Shores Photography Club for her public relations work and expertise in Digital Photography.
She was a active member of Westshore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River where she was an usher, and served on various church committees and was the official church photographer. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers. She was the secretary of the Lorain County Computer Users Club. She volunteered for R.S.V. P., retired Senior Citizens Volunteer Program, in Elyria. She traveled extensively with her husband, including several foreign countries.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Paul, one son, Eric (wife Sarah) of Greenup, KY and one granddaughter, Isabelle Foster.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Wilson and Father, Denver Clendenin.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. A grave side service will be held 9:30 AM Saturday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Westshore Unitarian Universalist Church 20401 Hilliard Blvd. Rocky River, Ohio 44116. Reverend Kathleen Rolenz will officiate.
