Carol Marie Steffen's Obituary
Carol Marie Steffen (nee Rawson), age 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Emerald Village Senior Living Home in North Olmsted.
She was born on January 6, 1926 in Elyria, spent her early years in LaGrange and lived most of her adult life in North Ridgeville. Carol enrolled in the Cadet Nurse Corps and went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital for 25 years and several years as a private duty nurse. She also worked for Elyria Catholic Schools as a school nurse for seven years before retiring in 1988.
Carol enjoyed working on crafts and cooking. She was a volunteer at the North Ridgeville Senior Center and American Red Cross. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with current events. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Rita Marie Steffen of Shaker Heights and Lisa Ann (Roger) Woodby of Elyria; sons Michael Henry (Diana) Steffen of Novelty and James Andrew (Rusty) Steffen of Livonia, MI; grandchildren Heather, Gregory, Graham, Tyler and Ian; and sister Phyllis Spicer of Hilton Head Island, SC.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1978; son Robert in 1974; parents Charles Andrew and Lucille Marie (nee Hastings) Rawson; and twin brother Keith Hastings Rawson of Puyallup, WA who passed away in April of this year.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28th, 2017 at 11:00 am. Rev. Andrew Hoover will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
