Betty Jean Monday's Obituary
Betty Jean Monday (nee Smithhart), age 84, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday June 17, 2020 at her residence following a battle with Pancreatic cancer.
She was born on September 17, 1935 in Rome, GA. She had resided in Elyria since 1992 after moving from North Ridgeville.
Betty worked as a molder for Xerex Corporation, Avon for 19 years, retiring in 1989.
A very faithful person, she was active with Praise and Worship Church, Elyria. She also loved being with her grandchildren and traveling.
She is survived by her loving husband, Pastor James Monday, three sons, James (Larisa) Bays of Puyallup, Washington, James (Charlene) Monday Jr. of Sheffield Lake, Michael Monday of Elyria; three daughters, Peggy York of Tacoma, Washington, Jeri (Mick) Sexton of Grayson, KY and Jodi McIntire of Sandusky, 16 grandchildren including her granddaughter who was her caregiver, Terri Arnold and 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Margaret Smithhart and her sister Peggy Smithhart. The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care and compassion while caring for both Betty and previously for her husband James. Special thanks to Patty Robinson for her serious love and caring. She is a wonderful person.
Public visitation will take place Friday from 11 AM until 1 PM at Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, social distancing will be practiced, and face covering are required, if you do not have a mask, one will be provided. Private services will be live streamed on Bogner Family Funeral Home Facebook page at 1 PM Friday. Betty’s brother-in-law Pastor Keith Monday will officiate.
Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
