Betty A. Cunningham's Obituary
Betty A. Cunningham (nee McNeeley), age 97 of North Ridgeville, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at The Northridge Health Center. Betty was born in Cleveland and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1997. Betty graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1941 and worked in the War Bond Department of Central National Bank during the war, then at Sears, Roebuck and Co., and finally at Collver-Miller Travel Agency. Betty was a member of St. Peter parish in North Ridgeville. Betty was a loving person, always willing to help out where needed. She prayed the rosary daily, and she loved being with her family, gardening, watching the Indians baseball games, reading, and doing crossword and word search puzzles. If everyone had a mother like Betty, the world would be a much better place. Betty didn’t have a mean bone in her body and everyone who ever met her loved her! Whenever she asked what day it was, she’d always say ‘oh here I thought it was Sunday’, so it was very fitting that the most loving person we’ve ever known passed away on Sunday, which was Valentine’s Day, a day of love. Betty is survived by her daughters Carol Malone (Ralph) of Martinez, GA, Joani Smith of North Ridgeville, her daughter-in-law Diane of Hermitage, PA, grandchildren - Todd, Shawn, Kevin, Heather, Erin, Megan, Tony, Brad, and Allie; great-grandchildren Mason, Aidan, Owen, Breyan, Dylan, Emmet, Riley, Poppy and Sadie; many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, her son James, her parents Earl and Frances McNeeley, her brothers and their wives: Richard (Helen), John (Peggy), and Edward (Jinny) McNeeley, her sister and her husband Molly (Jack) Spellacy, and great-grandson Carter Clark. Respecting social distancing and the wearing of masks, friends may call from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where a prayer service will be held on Friday at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville and will be livestreamed on www.stpeternr.org. Rev Bob Franco will officiate. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, The Northridge Health Center, Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, or a charity of your choice.
