Bette Adeline Schroeder's Obituary
Bette Adeline (Bunce) Schroeder, age 90, of Allen, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at her home at Christian Care Community and Services, Assisted Living Center, following complications from a stroke. Born July 10, 1929, she married the love of her life, Don Schroeder November 10, 1947 and they lived in the North Ridgeville and Elyria area for 60 years. She and Don owned Johnnies Carry Out in Oberlin, retiring and moving to Sebring, Florida in 1988. They were avid golfers and active in their golfing community. Bette was well known for baking a fresh pie almost every day and over 110 dozen Christmas cookies every December. She relocated to Texas in 2014 to be near family. Bette leaves behind a daughter, Kathleen Price; sons, Kenneth (Gail) Schroeder and Timothy (Deanne) Schroeder; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was a loving second mother to nieces Barbara Salata, Judy Firment, Bette Fesco, Nancy Wemer and nephew William Peck Jr.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald Edward Schroeder in 2009; sister, Roberta Peck; and parents Charles and Myrtle Burrows.
A special acknowledgement goes to Oliver Paul (Tim Schroeder’s father-in-law) for his friendship, card playing and soap opera watching during Bette’s many visits to their home. A private, graveside service will be held at LaPorte Cemetery in Carlisle Township for family members at a later date. The family wishes to thank the loving and caring members of the Christian Care Community and Services in Allen, Texas for their outstanding support during her final days.
