Bert H Marks' Obituary
Bert H Marks, age 81, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on July 4, 1944 in Akron, OH before moving to West Viriginia where he grew up. At age 18, Bert moved back to this area after raising his family in North Ridgeville.
Bert worked his entire career in the construction industry as a master carpenter, becoming a construction superintendent. Outside of work he enjoyed a wide variety of activities and events that showcased the kind of person he was. He loved all racing, (having raced motorcycles in his youth), gardening, taking long car rides in the country, talking about things he built, working with his hands and riding four-wheelers in the hill of West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife Eva (nee Rusaw) of 56 years; children Marie Smith (Richard), and Robert Marks; grandchildren Jacob Smith (Maddie), Tyler Marks (Catherine), and MacKenzie Browning (Paul). He is preceded in death by his parents Henry “Hub” and Myrtle Marks, siblings Ralph Marks (Judy), Helen Marks; brother-in-law Gerald Carroll and his Uncle Bert Hall (Vaun).
Memorial Service Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church, 23080 Royalton Road, Columbia Station, 44028. Rev. Chet Beetler will officiate.
