Bernice K. Dunker's Obituary
Bernice K. Dunker (nee Schmitz), age 88, of New Lexington, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2020 at SKLD in New Lexington, OH. She was born in Sheffield and had been a resident of Northeast, OH for the past 79 years. She worked as a CatScan Technician Aid in the Radiology Department for Southwest General Hospital, before retiring in 1995. Bernice was a member of St. Teresa Church in Sheffield, a past parishioner at St. Peter Church in N. Ridgeville, VFW Post 3344 in Grafton, and St. Teresa Altar and Rosary Society. Bernice became a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington after she moved to be near her daughter, Jean. She enjoyed arts and crafts and playing pinochle. She is survived by her daughters Theresa Gronberg of Neillsville, WS, Jean Marie (Roger) Hertzel of Corning, OH; son Thomas Dunker of Pensacola, FL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Sherry Schmitz of New London. She was preceded in death by her husband William; son William; daughter Cheryl Ann; parents Jacob and Emma Schmitz; sisters Clara Krake, Dorothy Yonkof, Jacqueline Perry, Mary Katherine Arce and Emmarita Jensen; brother Jacob Schmitz. Respecting social distancing and the wearing of masks, family will receive friends Friday, April 23, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville. Rev. Joe Robinson will officiate. Service will be live streamed on St. Peter Church North Ridgeville Facebook page. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
