Benjamin "Ben" Chase Jr.'s Obituary
Benjamin “Ben” L. Chase Jr., age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
He was born on October 2, 1934 at Lakewood Hospital and resided in Bay Village and Westlake. He previously lived in Ft. Myers, FL, Catawba Island and North Ridgeville.
Benjamin served in the US Army Medical Corp in Korea. After his service, he worked as an instrument technician for Dupont (now known as Zaclon Inc.) retiring in 1992 after 35 years.
Ben enjoyed boating, golfing, home renovation and volunteering at McGruder Hospital in Pt. Clinton.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, J. Darlene (nee Deskins); son, Gary (JoAnn) of North Ridgeville; daughter, Sharon (Dave) Greene of Greensburg, PA; grandchildren, Scott and Christine Chase, Alexis and David Greene; brother, Jeff (Tommye) of Avon Lake.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin L. and Beatrice (nee Lewis) Chase Sr.; sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Middaugh and brother-in-law, Dick Middaugh; grandson, Benjamin Greene; sister-in-law, Tammy Chase. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many and will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 12PM at Catawba Island Cemetery, 4822 E. Cemetery Rd., Pt. Clinton. where the US Army will conduct Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 14, 2019 at 3PM at the Aqua Marine Clubhouse, 750 Aquamarine Blvd., Avon Lake.
