Beatrice Axford's Obituary
Beatrice May Axford, 86, of LaGrange and a lifelong resident of Lorain County, died Friday morning, January 18, 2013 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Beatrice was born June 5, 1926 in Elyria to the late Herbert and Beatrice Ellen (nee Holiday) Hallett. She married her loving husband of 65 years, William C. Axford II, on December 31, 1947 and he survives.
Also left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Jim) McClelland, LaGrange, Sherill (Gene) Shiplett, Sagamore Hills, William C. Axford III, LaGrange, and Timothy Joe Axford, Penfield; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, Kenneth William Axford; and a brother, Herbert Hallet, Jr.
A 1945 graduate of Elyria High School, Beatrice was employed in the office at both Elyria Memorial Hospital and Republic Steel. She retired as the owner and operator of the This 'N That Shop in Wellington and LaGrange which specialized in candy, cake supplies and crafts.
In her free time, Beatrice enjoyed reading cookbooks, sewing, quilting, crafts, traveling, crossword puzzles and cooking for her family. She was a 25-year member of the LaGrange Lions Club and a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church, LaGrange Steam Engine Club, North Ridgeville Senior Center and Elyria Women's Club. Beatrice will be lovingly remembered for her loving and caring nature and for the smile she always seemed to have on her face.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013. Committal services and burial will follow at River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township.
Memorials are suggested to the LaGrange Lions Club.
