Barbara Underwood's Obituary
Barbara Mae Underwood (nee Binzer), age 73 of Elyria passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Akron, OH and had been an Elyria resident for over 50 years. A 1953 graduate of North Ridgeville High School, she had been employed for over 35 years by Kroger and was their first female store manager. She had also been employed as office manager for Sterling Jewelers and was instrumental in opening new jewelry stores for them. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Elyria. Barbara enjoyed travel, all kinds of crafts, collecting dolls and had won numerous awards for her cross stitch accomplishments. Survivors include sons, Michael (Gail) Underwood and Gary Lee (Kim) Underwood both of Palmetto, FL, grandchildren, Joshua, Brooke, Mallory, Jessica and Christopher, great grandchildren, Chyenne, Jacob and Chloe and a brother, George (Jane) Binzer of North Ridgeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher in 1989, by her parents, Violet Mae and Leonard Binzer and by 2 grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday December 7, 2008 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday. Rev. Ruth Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
