Barbara M. Kristoff's Obituary
Barbara M. Kristoff (nee Milam), age 91 of North Ridgeville, passed away on December 1, 2015 at Rae Ann Suburban Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Kristoff was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia and had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 1992 moving from North Olmsted, where she lived for 15 years.
Barbara graduated from Morris Harvey College, was a Fulbright Scholar and had a Masters in Education.
She taught school for 35 years. Her profession brought her to Brooklyn, Ohio after teaching in Raleigh County, West Virginia for five years. After 9 years in Brooklyn, she taught in Rocky River for 21 years. She retired in 1986. Barbara was rewarded many times for excellence in teaching. She was a Jennings Scholar and was chosen as Rocky River’s Teacher of the year in 1977-78. She felt that the greatest reward of all was the many children who passed into her life.
Survivors include her sons, John (Christine) of Columbus, OH, Joel (Suzanne) of Oberlin; grandchildren, Jay (Jenni), Will (Allison), Chessey Lynn Kristoff and Lori (Rodney) Jameyson; great-grandchildren Eleanor, Ethan, Jude and Julius Kristoff, Lucas and Carson Jameyson and Larry Verhovec III; niece Jane Hill and Family; cousin Sue Cassell and James “Bud” Wiley and families.
She was preceded in death by her father, William K. Milam in 1927 and her mother, Chessie Clay Milam Bennett in 1995; sister Lillian Howery.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville on Friday from 5-7 p.m.
Graveside Services will be in Miller Cemetery in Rock Creek, WV, on Monday, Dec. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
