Barbara Hootman's Obituary
Barbara M. Hootman (nee Henn), age 84, of Rocky River , died Monday December 31, 2012 at Huntington Woods Nursing Home, Westlake.
Babs was the younger daughter of the late Bernhart Willis and Mae Bernadette (Gillard) Henn. She grew up in Rocky River and felt a special affinity for that town her whole life.
She graduated from Rocky River High School, Class of 1945. She enjoyed keeping in touch with old classmates.
She wed John C. Hootman in 1948. A dedicated homemaker, Babs was also a longtime member of the Beachcliff Garden Club, Fairview Hospital Volunteer Board and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lakewood, OH. After her children were grown, Babs was employed by Schreibman Jewelers in Cleveland, and later by Kaufman's department store.
In later years, Babs traveled with her sister, Betty Otte, through any number of countries from Morocco to Russia. She also enjoyed traveling to see her children and grandchildren, especially during the Christmas season.
She was always proud of her four children, who survive her: a son, John B. Hootman of Berea, and three daughters, Judith H. Tunnell, of Chester Springs, PA, Jill C. Hootman of Clarksville, TN, and Jennifer H. Graham of Kennesaw, Georgia, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Otte.
She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Hootman who died in 2003.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1 PM in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
Interment will be at the family plot in Lakewood Park Cemetery.
