Arnold O. "Arnie" Burgess' Obituary
Arnold O. “Arnie” Burgess, age 89, of North Ridgeville, passed away on August 13, 2016 at the O’Neill Healthcare Center.
He was born on August 6, 1927 in Cliffty, TN and has lived in North Ridgeville for the past 64 years. He worked as a job setter for Ridge Tool for 42 years, retiring in 1990.
Arnie enjoyed woodworking, building benches and chairs. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and had bowled on the Ridge Tool League for many years. A true family man, Arnie looked forward to and cherished the time spent at family gatherings and reunions.
He is survived by his son Douglas Burgess of North Ridgeville; daughter Cheryl (Robert) Orr of North Ridgeville; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers Myron (Betty) of North Ridgeville, Venus of Lagrange, Ellis (Jeannie) of N.C., Jerry (Eileen) of Eaton Township and Bob (Diana) of Grafton; sisters Mildred (Dwight) Felton of Salineville, OH, Elnor (Joe) McSherry of Crossville, TN and Linda Rowe of Crossville, TN.
Arnie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Gloria; sons Mike and Brian Burgess; parents Nolan and Sarah Bell (nee Vanwinckel) Burgess; brothers Leon and Stanley Burgess.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Township. Rev. Chuck Behrens will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Area Chapter, P.O. Box 75924, Cleveland, OH 44194.
