Anna Mae Townsend's Obituary
Anna Mae Townsend (nee Stringer), age 85, of Grafton, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, August 25, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 30, 1939 in Comfort, West Virginia and has been a resident of Grafton since 1962, moving from Cleveland. She was very devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of the Abundant Life Christian Center in Elyria. Anna Mae enjoyed many different crafts, including needlepoint, sewing and crocheting, making many beautiful quilts for her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Carol (John) Smith of Grafton, Connie (Jimmy “Marshall”) Smith of Grafton, Harry L. Townsend Jr. of Wellington; grandchildren Munnette (Scott), Amanda, Justin (Tami), Michael (Courtney) and Danielle (Jose); great grandchildren Aaron, Christian, Aidan, Conner, Jayce, Dakota, Jacob, Rachelle, Hayley and Mackenzie; great-great grandchildren Luke, Finn, Cameron and Parker; siblings Louise Crombie, Martha Buzzard, Libby (Harold) Taylor, Jack Stringer, Roger (Mary) Stringer, Judy Zornes, Richard (Carolyn) Stringer and Larry (Debbie) Stringer; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harry L. Townsend Sr.; daughter-in-law Tammy Townsend; granddaughter Alicia Smith; parents Orpha (nee Kinder) and William Stringer; brothers Clyde, Dennis, and Frankie Stringer; sister Carolyn Stone.
Friends may call Friday, September 5, 2025, from 12PM until the time of services at 1PM at Abundant Life Christian Center, 306 Morgan Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. Rev. Jerry Harper will officiate.
Interment will be in Royalton Road Cemetery, Columbia Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ann Mae’s name to the Abundant Life Christian Center or a charity of your choice.
