Alvin "Ben" Petrykowski's Obituary
Alvin Carl "Ben" Petrykowski, age 95, of Eaton Township, died peacefully early Thursday morning, December 20, 2012 at Northridge Health Center, North Ridgeville.
Ben was born April 10, 1917 in Berea to the late Jacob and Petronela (nee Szymanski) Petrykowski. He married the former Dorothy Lottie Golinski on June 29, 1940 and she preceded him in death on December 21, 1992.
A son-in-law, Rodney Cavanaugh, and siblings, Florian Peters, Harold Petrykowski and Helen Kusky, also preceded him in death.
Ben was a manager and grower with Olmsted Greenhouse Company for many years. He will also be remembered for selling Christmas trees from his home. In his free time, Ben enjoyed woodworking, gardening and farming. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, North Ridgeville, the Lorain County Farm Bureau and North Eaton Grange.
Surviving are his children, James (Elaine) Petrykowski, Grafton, Carolyn (James) Tulio, North Carolina, Susan (David) Vallant, Farmdale, Judith Cavanaugh, New York, and Deborah (James) Morrison, Lagrange; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, until the time of 10:30 a.m. prayer services. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
