Allan M. "Al" Hlavna's Obituary
Allan M. “Al” Hlavna, age 71, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake.
He was born on August 12, 1950 in Cleveland and has been a resident of North Ridgeville for the past 33 years, moving from North Olmsted. He worked as a union electrician and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 38 for over 50 years, retiring in 2005. After retirement, he went on to work as an electrician in U.S. Embassies around the world, including Germany, Greece, and Fiji, among many others.
Al loved nature watching, and enjoyed watching his feeders in his back yard, which invited birds, squirrels, and deer. Cleveland and Ohio sports were always on his TV in the home, as he supported all his hometown teams. He was also an avid bike rider and enjoyed watching cycling events as well.
He is survived by his significant other Geralyn Gulan; daughter Petra (Dre McDonald) Watkins; son Alex (Alexandra) Hlavna; grandchildren Jordan (Meghan), Ryan, Austin, Kylee, Caleb, Peyton, Logan, Skyler and Alaina; great grandchildren L.J. and Presley; brother Paul (Judy) Hlavna; sisters Fran Bentley and Janet Hlavna; many nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret (nee Lutsko) Hlavna; brother in law Larry Bentley.
