Alfred Thomas' Obituary
Alfred U. Thomas, age 71, of Elyria, died Thursday at Hospice House of the Western Reserve, Cleveland following a long illness.
He was born in Marlinton, West Virginia and had lived in Elyria since 1966; having moved from Marlinton.
Mr. Thomas graduated from Marlinton High School, WV in 1952.
He worked many years as the assistant administrator of plant operations at the Wade Park Manor/Judson Retirement Community, Cleveland; until his retirement in 1998. Previously he had worked for the Elyria City Schools; in general maintenance and as building superintendent for the Elyria Methodist Home.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Over the years that which he enjoyed most were the opportunities of vacationing with his family, watching his grandchildren's baseball games and many school activities.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda D. (Nee Defibaugh) Thomas; daughter, Kim (Joe) Plaso, of North Olmsted; sons, Timothy (Judy) Thomas, of Elyria and William Guy (Ina) Thomas, of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Maxine Harper and brother, Harry Lee Thomas, both of Marlinton, WV
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Opal (nee Weiford) Thomas; sister, Gladys Moore and brother, James H. Thomas.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 3700 Center Road, Avon. Reverend Bill Shomo will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
