Albin J. Petelin, Jr.'s Obituary
Albin “Al” J. Petelin Jr., age 72, of Avon, passed away on May 17, 2016 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Albin was born on August 13, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio and has lived in Avon since 1977. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 and was a member of St. Mary Church in Avon. Albin worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Midland Steel for 23 years, retiring in 2000 due to health issues.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 211 in Avon Lake, V.F.W. 1079 in Elyria, Disabled American Veterans, U.S.S. Intrepid Association, the U.A.W., and was a friend of Dr. Bob and Bill Wilson for many years.
He enjoyed attending events at his car club and driving his ’57 Chevy. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gloria J (nee Podlogar); son John J. Petelin of Avon; daughter Gloria M. Petelin of Avon Lake; grandchildren Ray and Vaughn, both of Avon Lake; sisters Sister Lisette Petelin S.N.D. of Chardon and Sister Emilie Petelin O.P. of Adrian, MI; uncle of many.
Albin was preceded in death by his daughter Emilie Petelin; parents Albin J. Sr. and Emilie (nee Anzur) Petelin; brothers Emil and John “J.R.” Petelin.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Friday from 5-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, Avon. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
