Albert James "Jim" Walters' Obituary
Albert James “Jim” Walters, age 85, of Sheffield Village, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. He was born on October 3, 1937 in Titusville, Pennsylvania and has been a resident of Sheffield Village for the past 7 years, moving from North Ridgeville. Following his graduation from high school, he became a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Bainbridge, MD, moving on to Norman, OK and then to Memphis, TN for aviation and electronics training. Jim then went on to attend William and Mary University in VA, followed by Bryant & Stratton in Buffalo, NY, where he met his wife, Lucille. He worked as a manager for BP Oil Company, retiring in 2002. Jim loved watching game shows, old movies and was a huge Cleveland baseball and football fan. He was an avid reader and was a wealth of knowledge on things he read about, especially history. He and his wife Lucy took many cruises together alongside their dear friends Tom and Alice Schulz. He had an unwavering commitment to family and friends, some since his childhood, and attended every family reunion in Pennsylvania over the years. He and his wife Lucy were a great team, doing many things together in the home. They also enjoyed reading and listening to music and spending time together outside on their patio. Jim was part of a poker group for many years, and most recently, enjoyed playing 5 Crowns in his community center. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille “Lucy”; son Alan James (Katrina) Walters of Westerville; daughter Catherine Ann (Joseph) Paschall of New London; grandchildren Tyler Bowling, Janeva (Derrick) Thompson, Aidan (Amanda) Paschall; great grandchildren Kaiser, Kaleb, Isaac and Blake Thompson and Isla and Rhys Paschall; sister Michelle (Fred) Harrison; sister-in-law Margie Morrot; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Albert W. and Ruth Agnes (nee Wolbert) Walters; sister Karen Sommerfeld; niece Tracey Sommerfeld; brother-in-law Paul Morrot. Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral Service and Military Honors at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate. Interment will be private.
