Leonard J. Duke

February 15, 1920 - March 12, 2022

Leonard J. Duke, age 102, of North Ridgeville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 12, 2022 at Kingston Residence of Vermilion. He was born in Cleveland and was a resident of North Ridgeville for 15 years, moving from Strongsville. Leonard served in the United States Navy during WWII and was the president of Duke Grinding INC. He was a member of both St. Peter Church in North Ridgeville, and St. Peter and Paul Church in Garfield Heights. He was also a past President of the Holy Name Society at St. Peter and Paul. Leonard enjoyed golfing in the St. Peter’s Golf League, ushering at church, bowling till age 96, and playing cards. He is survived by his daughters Nancy Soworowski of North Ridgeville, Barbara Love (Len Eagleson) of Mesquite, NV, sons Richard (Beverly) Duke of North Ridgeville, Michael (Joanne) Duke of Medina, David (Laura) Duke of Estero, FL, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Sophie, parents Benedict and Mary Dukowski, daughter Virginia Kump, brother Robert Duke, and son-in-law Barney Soworowski. A public Visitation will be held on Thursday 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge rd. North Ridgeville, OH. A prayer service will be held at Bogner Family Funeral Home on Friday at 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass at St. Peter Church at 11am, 35777 Center Ridge rd. North Ridgeville, OH. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cleveland. Fr. Bob Franco will officiate.
