Palco's Obituary
Roger J. Palco, age 65, of North Ridgeville passed away at his home Wednesday April 20, 2011 following a short illness.
He was born in Lorain having moved to North Ridgeville in 1968.
Mr. Palco worked at BASF Chemical in Elyria the past 46 years, most recently in the Waste Water Management Department.
He was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Elyria and was Chairperson of the Social Justice Committee.
Mr. Palco helped start the first soccer league in North Ridgeville in the early 1970’s then continued to coach soccer until 1989 when he was a North Ridgeville High School Soccer Coach and coached the traveling team for the city league. He also enjoyed playing games with his grandchildren, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joanne (nee Petroskey), sons, Matthew (Valbona) Palco of Orlando, FL and Christian (Angela) Palco of North Ridgeville, 8 grandchildren and his sister, Mary Leath “Dolly” (Arthur) Weltman of St. Petersburg, FL.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca in 1988, parents, Andrew and Eunice and brother, Paul Palco.
The family will receive friends 5-8PM Monday at David Bogner Family Funeral Home 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11AM Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church 611 Lake Avenue, Elyria (please meet at church). Rev. Albert Veigas, Pastor and Rev. Charles Ryba will con-celebrate. Private interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery at a later date.
