Margaret "Maggie" Stitt

Margaret Stitt of North Ridgeville, Ohio passed away August 24th with family at her side. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and emigrated to America with her husband Alex in 1957. They were married in Detroit and started living the American Dream. Dad got a job with Ford in Cleveland, and they moved to Ohio in 1959. In 1962 they bought a house in the brand-new subdivision of West Point homes and that is where she lived for the rest of her life. Maggie as she is known, raised 3 kids: Laura, Kim and Allan in that house. She worked odd jobs at various places around town including Dairy Grove, Baskin Robbins and Lehoty’s Card Shop. The job she was hands down best at was being a mom and a granny. She knew all our friends and had no problem involving herself in conversations, taking part in a party and even driving us to toilet paper houses. She got stopped by the police by the way. Having perfected being a mom, she could’ve taught a master class on being a granny. She hosted annual Granny Camp’s for all the grandkids every summer. It was a week of fun, pool, nightly trips to Dairy Grove, the drive in and shopping. Mom made whatever they wanted for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the spoiled buggars ate all of their favorite Scottish dishes including mince and tatties, steak pie and shepherd’s pie. Mom loved to travel and she took full advantage of Allan’s travel benefits. She and Dad truly saw the world from Australia and Singapore to the Caribbean, Canada, all over the US, Mexico and Europe. Her absolute favorite was Maui and they spent many winters on that island. Hands down the best place ever in her mind. There she made a host of friends, coordinated happy hour at the condo complex and met a group of Canadians she was still in touch with. Just 5 years ago, she took her grandkids, Madison, Morgan, Aarika, Katie and Gillian to Scotland for my cousin’s wedding. There seemed to be nothing that could hold her back and she loved hanging out with her family. The miracle of Face Time allowed her to communicate with everyone around the world and she loved it. She was very adept at the iPhone and iPad and couldn’t understand why everyone didn’t have one. She liked nothing more than to sit in her backyard with a buddy, have a cuppa and enjoy the flowers and the quiet. Maggie was an active participant in the North Ridgeville Senior Center, Prime Timers and TOPs. She was a member of Sugar Ridge Baptist Church. Maggie is preceded in death by her parents David and Jessie from Glasgow, her husband Alex, daughter, Kim and sister Jess Dickie, Australia. She leaves behind her two kids Laura (Ellen) and Allan (Maria) both of Denver. Son-in-law Chuck (Debra) Linek of Powell, OH. Maggie’s pride and joy were her six grandkids Madison (Kevin), Morgan, Aarika, Gillian, Katie and Mariah. She is also survived by her sister Ena (Norrie) and brother David (Louise) both of Glasgow and numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland, England, Canada and Australia. The family will receive friends Saturday September 4th from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at Sugar Ridge Baptist Church 36600 Sugar Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. Pastor Adam Hall will officiate. Services will be live streamed on Bogner Family Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
