Charles Bashak, Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles M. Bashak Sr., age 82, of Tavares, FL, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Florida Hospital Waterman, Tavares, Florida following a short illness. He was born April 24, 1921 in Elyria. He had resided in Tavares since 1995 moving from North Ridgeville where he had lived most of his life. Mr. Bashak served in the US Army during WW II. He served in the 313th Infantry, 79th Division in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recepiant of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He enjoyed woodcrafts and was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He was volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years. He was a formerly active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in the North Ridgeville, voluntering with Bingo and Parish Festivals and other parish activies. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Eustis, Florida. He was a life member of VFW Post 1079 in Elyria. Mr. Bashak worked as a Welding Specialist for Pfaudler Co. in Elyria for 40 years retiring in 1983. He is survived by his son Charles Jr. of Tavares, his grand daugher, Tracy Prowant of Avon Lake and one brother, John Bashak of Elyria. He was preceded in death by wife Eloise in 1999, daughter, Karen Bashak-Devecka in 2000, three brothers, Michael, Andy and Nicholas, two sisters, Mary Lonca and Helen Ferguson, and his parents, Andrew and Katherine Bashak.. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9PM in the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road North Ridgeville. A prayer service will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home followed by 10:00 AM Mass at St. Peter Church. Reverend Charles Ryba will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville, Ohio. The VFW Post 1079, Elyria will conduct full military honors at the graveside.
