To the family of Rudy Piskuran
My dad Lindley "Roy" McDowell was also a Pearl Harbor veteran and was on the USS Maryland on December 7th, 1941. His ship was tied to the USS Oklahoma on that day. I was so glad to hear that your family member is now back home and grateful to the memory of Yeoman Piskuran for the sacrifice that he made for all of us. My dad always told us that it was the smoke from the Oklahoma that saved the men of the Maryland as the Japanese bombers wasn't able to see her. So it was with his passing that may dad was saved and I came to be so many years later.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers will be with you as he is laid to rest.
