How do I find the words on how an Aunt loves? My Aunt Maru Lou was like no other. My summers as a young child, I would spend a week or two at Uncle Bill and Aunt Mary Lou's home and one particular summer was during my 12th birthday. Aunt Mary Lou gifted me a dozen roses. Her words to me was "Let me be the first to give you roses". Over a half century has passed and there have been many other gifts of roses from others, but none more memorable like the one who gave me my first, I cannot remember for the life of me the color of the roses, but I remember her words as if they were just moments ago. At that time when she said "let me be the first to give you roses" was somewhat lost on a young person, but now, as I am a woman in her mid 60's, I realize she was showing me love, that I truly mattered and her choosing that gift was her way of making a lasting memory, Having had the love of such a kind & beautiful woman brings tears to my eyes and the world is less of a place with her gone, I will miss her and suffer with regrets of not being more in touch in our later years, Oh, and she also took me to the mall and bought me bright orange tennis shoes. She told me all the kids were wearing that color. That may of been true in Elyria, but back home I was the only one wearing orange tennis shoes the entire school year, I wore those crazy orange shoes till my toes could no longer wiggle.
