Beloved Grandma and much loved “Grammy” will be so very, very missed. I’ve never been prouder of my middle name. My Grandmother defined the name Eileen with unconditional love. From the twinkle in her eye to her sweet, sweet smile, you never had to wonder if she loved you. Grandma has showered our family in so much love for as long as I can remember.
Just a few of my favorite memories include: camping at Findley State Park, Christmas Eves with piles of presents Grandma had collected throughout the year, “tiles” games, neatly folded clothes picked with love for me or for my daughter that smelled so, so sweet – like Grammy’s house, the warmth felt from a cup of tea with Grandma, her proud smile looking down the row at us on the occasions when her family filled the pew at North Eaton Baptist Church, talks on the porch swing, watching my daughter cuddle up to her Grammy just the way I had and Grandma’s long loving good-byes filled with hugs, kisses, I love yous and even when you were pulling out of the drive way Grandma wouldn’t stop waving and blowing kisses till you were completely out of her sight.
My last memory of Grandma is her blowing us a kiss as we left her nursing home just a few weeks ago. Even though Grandma now is out of our sight, we can be comforted knowing she is present with her Lord. We are so very blessed to have been love by Eileen Simmons.
