George O'Dor's Obituary
George O'Dor, age 80 of Elyria passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland. He was born March 27, 1929 in Lorain, and had been a resident of Elyria since 1953. Mr. O'Dor was a graduate of LaGrange High School. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1984 after working as an inspector for 30 years. George was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 1079, Elyria, and a member of the UAW Local 1250. George had attended Grace Lutheran Church, Elyria. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cavs fan, enjoyed nature and the outdoors, travel, especially Caribbean and Alaskan cruises and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lila (nee Gutzman), a son, Gary O'Dor of Lorian, daughters, Cynthia O'Dor of Elyria and Lori (Daniel) Black of Florence Twp., a brother, Rev. Frank (Marjorie) Odor of Elyria and a sister, Elizabeth Odor of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth O'Dor, his foster parents, Fred and Ella Hastings, a brother, Louis Odor and a sister, Ethel Kannenberg. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 9685 E. River Rd., Elyria with visitation from 10:30AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church.
