Still remember his speeches to me and Anthony Corlew about how we stayed out of trouble. Was so proud that we didn’t follow the crowd. Will be sadly missed

Spent many days at the Donaldson's house in the Spring Valley neighborhood. My thoughts and prayers go out to Debbie and Susan and her family. Great family and I'm so sorry you girls lost both your mother and father within months of each other. May they both rest in peace with our loving father in heaven 🙏🙏. Terri (Wilson) Hazlett-Girolamo
My condolences go out to the family of Mr. Donaldson. I was a student of his and he coached me in both football and basketball. His passion for both made such a positive impact throughout my time at Eastern Heights.
Sincerely,
Brent Binkley
I remember Mr. Donaldson from Eastern Heights when I was a student there. He was a very nice man and a good teacher. I remember seeing him coach the boys. Great memeories. My deepest sympathy to his family. May he rest in peace. Pat Taylor Cook

I intended to write something when Mrs. Donaldson passed and would like to share now. She was the secretary at Prospect School when my boys went there. I remember her so fondly as being so sweet, caring and helpful. And on to Eastern Heights where I met Mr. Donaldson who was equally as caring and a great teacher. My thoughts are with their family.

I spent the first 10 yrs of my teaching career at E. Hts. where I was fortunate to become one of Doug's many friends. I spent many hours with him as I became his extra driver to take his basketball team to away games.
I am still playing golf with the clubs he gave me upon my retirement 22 yrs ago. Jim Wracker (?) gave to him to encourage him to take up the game. Needless to say, he was not interested.
My deepest condolences to the family who were his greatest pride.

As I began my teaching and coaching career in the mid-1970s I gained great admiration of Doug,s ways of going about his daily teaching and coaching tasks at Eastern Heights Jr. High. His enthusiasm and positive attitude toward life and learning were qualities that come to mind when I think of Doug. He was truly a great teacher, coach, mentor and friend.

I'm very sorry to hear of Mr. Donaldson's passing. He was, by far, the best coach I ever had, and one of the finest people I ever came across in my scholastic career. My friends and I have often remembered and spoken fondly of him many decades after we knew him as a coach and teacher. I can think of few greater tributes to the measure of a person. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Mr. Donaldson.
Coach Donaldson was a great mentor and friend to me. He was one of the finest coaches I ever had and made playing for him fun. We always enjoyed when he would sit down while we were eating lunch and start moving our sandwiches, fruit and desserts around to represent some new play he wanted us to try. And my family later enjoyed his yearly visits to Colorado and catching up on all the Elyria sports news. He always told me to set my sights higher than I thought and I would be surprised that I could go even higher. He was so right. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

I am 77 years old and my memories of sitting in Mr. Donaldson's history and science class are still vivid. He is one of the key teachers of my life and one of the people who helped mold me. I am thankful to have had him as a teacher.
