M. Faye Atkinson, age 89, sixty-year resident of North Ridgeville, passed away on July 7, 2020 at her home. Faye was born in Spring City, Tennessee on December 30, 1930 to the late Claude and Birdie Bell (nee Sherill) Rector. She graduated from Elyria High School and LCCC and attended many other seminars to keep up with new procedures and continuing education. She worked for 38 ½ years at Elyria Memorial Hospital as an operating room nurse, in management, nurse educator, as well as the Q.A. coordinator of the operating room. She was also an Adjunct Instructor at LCCC teaching surgical tech. Faye was the co-owner of the Atkinson Greenhouse with her husband Jim Atkinson. She was a member of St. Peter Church, Brentwood Country Club, Moose Lodge 907 with her husband, the Elks Lodge, V.F.W. and AMVETS, and was a member of N.A.F.E. (National Association of Female Executives), the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She loved golf, enjoyed traveling, collecting dolls and flower gardening. She loved her backyard family, and had feed for all, the birds, squirrels, deer, rabbits, woodchucks, chipmunks, and wild turkeys. She always felt blessed for having good neighbors, a wonderful hospital family, and friends. Faye was mindful of her charities, which included Boys and Girls Town, Shriners Hospital for Children, Salvation Army, Olympics, Moose Children’s Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Peter’s Church. Faye is survived by her daughters Linda Brown and Teri Weber, both of North Ridgeville; grandsons Dustin (Brandy) Kilfoyle of Leesburg, FL and Devin Weber of Elyria Township; great grandson Christian Kilfoyle of Leesburg, FL ; brothers Ray Rector of Decatur, AL and Max Rector of Rockwood, TN; sister Shirley Juillerat of Rockwood, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James E. Atkinson on March 28, 1995; parents Claude and Birdie (nee Sherill) Rector; sister in law Karen Rector. All Services will be private. Faye would like you to feed the hungry-children, pets, birds, and other wildlife. Be kind to each other. Life is short, have a drink. We won’t pass this way again.
