Betty Jane Burgess

January 11, 1935 - February 13, 2022

Betty Jane Burgess (nee Smith), age 87, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake. She was born on January 11, 1935, in Spring City, Tennessee and has been a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville. She worked in retail sales at Petries for many years. Betty enjoyed word search games, vacationing, and taking trips to Amish country with her family. She babysat her great nephew and niece Brandon and Sarah for many years, which she truly cherished. The summer months would find her sunbathing and tending to her flower garden. Betty is survived by her husband Myron Cordell Burgess; grandchildren Joy Greene of Vermilion, Cindy (Ken) Perry of Sheffield Lake, Jim Greene of North Ridgeville, and Shawn Ray of Elyria; great grandchildren Derek, David, Nikki, Hailey, James, Makenzie, and Dalton; great-great grandchild Oakley; beloved sister Peggy Peters of Lorain; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughters Bonnie Ray and Kathryn Burgess; son-in-law Larry Ray; parents Rector and Hazel (nee Hill) Smith; sister Loretta Smisik; brother Paul Smith. Funeral service Friday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, where family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Rev. Randy McKinney will officiate. Interment will be private.
