I will certainly miss my Uncle Mike. He spent a lot of time with our family when I was growing up. I can see him with his tool belt on walking around the house on Orleans dealing with the never ending repairs and vandalism. He taught me how to play chess. He didn't just take me bowling, he taught me how to bowl. He always had the newest gadget like "Boris" the first electronic chess game or electric windows on his car. Whenever he put his mind to a project he would execute it perfectly. Of course his Christmas display would win the prize in his town. To this day I'm impressed with the composition of the photos we have that he took. He had such a good eye.
I was telling someone at work about him this week and they asked me, "Was he like a father figure to you?". "No," I said, "he was just a really good friend". I will miss my Uncle Mike.
I visited him with my mom in May at the rehab center and we cajoled him into playing the harmonica for us. I was able to make a quick video with my camera and I have posted it here under photos and videos above.
