When we were young boys, we would each spend a week during the summer at each other’s house. During one of my stays at joes house, MY uncle joe (joes dad) took us out in his Jeep to hunt woodchuck. The Jeep stopped and uncle joe handed me his scoped rifle and said this one was mine. It was the first time I ever shot a gun. And I got em. Joey and I trudged out about 100 yards and dragged that woodchuck allll the way back to the Jeep. For Joey and I, it was a cousin bonding moment I remember to this day. RIP my cousin and friend.

Just wanted to share a little story on Joe's silly sense of humor. When we were married I bought a new broom and told him in no uncertain terms that he was not to remove it from the house and use it in the barn or the garage. Two days later I can't find my new broom so with hand on hip when he came in the house I said Joe where's my new broom and without skipping a beat his reply to me was I'm sorry darlin I didn't know you were going anywhere on it today.

I’ve known Joe since the early grade school years at St. Peter’s. Joe and I shared an intense interest and love for the outdoors - hunting, trapping & fishing. Joe often said that N. Ridgeville was a great place for a boy to grow up back when we were kids and teenagers. Although we seldom got a chance to spend time together after I moved away from N. Ridgeville after college, we did reconnect in the past few years and did talk fairly frequently over the phone - and each time the years would instantly melt away. I’ll cherish memories of many good times with Joe and of those conversations. Rest In Peace Joe!! Prayers and condolences to his family.
