My condolences to Johns family. I just found about His passing only yesterday. Back in the early 1970's I lived on Leesburg Rd. & He lived on the corner of Leesmoor Ln. & Leesburg Rd. John , me, & several other kids ran around together from 1969- 71. I haven't seen John since the mid 70's. Once again, my sincere condolences.
I love u uncle John and will miss u so much u always gave me a ear to talk to when ever i needed it it hurts to not be able to call u again but i know ur n a better place just know ur always n our hearts an i love u so much
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be

Dear Cheryl, Brooke and family,
You have my heartfelt love and sympathy in the passing of your sweet husband and wonderful dad! Brooke, I remember your dad volunteering so many times to help out in your preschool class! Your teacher, "Miss" Laura was so thankful for his help!! I remember one day I was subbing in your class on Valentine's Day and your dad was our parent helper. The person who had signed up to bring the cookies for all of you to decorate had forgotten all about it. Your dad came to the rescue!! He went to the Convenient Store down the street and bought cookies and other goodies for the class and flowers for me! I will never forget it!! We all loved your dad!! He exuded the love of Jesus to everyone he met!! I'm sure he is with him now!
My heart goes out to you all! I will be keeping you in my prayers for strength and peace.

Sometimes you get the long straw and other times the short, but the mettle of a man is determined not by his draw, but in how he chooses to handle it. My cousin John had some really short straws, and through it all he seemed to take it in stride. He was always upbeat when I communicated with him in the hospital, an act of courage in the face of sickness. John didn't seem to lose his zest for life, even when he knew his was to be short. He was a good man. Cheryl, you and the kids are always welcome at my house; I owe you a family welcome from all those years ago when you opened your home to me and my family. Please look us up when you want to visit Colorado.

The memory I want to share is when I meant John. We were both waiting for our children while they were practicing for a school play. John was always light hearted and loved to make people smile. His pride and joy was his daughter Brooke. When John talked about Brooke his whole body seemed to glow. He will forever be her guardian angel.

Carla, Steve and I were so glad to see you and take you out for a bite to eat last time we came to see you in 2010.
We all wanted to come visit again, and talked about it often. With my illness we were unable to make the trip in time :-( We will always love you like a brother. You always knew that anyway. You will be deeply missed.

I was very sad to hear you are no longer with us... As I know how much you loved life, family and friends. But I must say I am relieved that you are no longer trapped in a body that wouldn't let you live the way I remember you.
Here's to the John I remember... Always smiling, laughing, telling a joke and being real about life.
