Frank Gasperich was proud of his service as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He was a problem-solver who consistently excelled at separating fact from fiction to reach thoughtful conclusions.
Frank was not reluctant to voice his opinions, but was always respectful of the views held by others that did not coincide with his.
Above all, he was highly organized in planning and carrying out all types of activities: presentations at work focused on improving Air Force policies and operations, restoration and preservation of old aircraft, and taking time out to teach eager middle school students how to design and launch small rockets to get them interested in science and technology.
Annual travel through the U.S. and abroad was one of his top priorities. He and Rose made sure they visited military museums, other historic sites, and family along the way. Their annual Christmas card confirmed their trips of joy.
Frank was an avid reader of military history and had an extensive collection of books he meticulously organized and maintained in his library. He was always looking for ways to learn more, but not just from books. I remember him telling me shortly after he retired that he had enrolled in a carpentry course to sharpen his hands-on skills so he could complete more home improvement projects.
Frank Gasperich was definitely one of the good guys and a pleasure to have know. He was always positive and greeted you with a smile!
