I have fond memories of Arden as a childhood friend. We drifted apart in our middle and high school years, but I remember Arden as a kind soul with an independent spirit. I wish I could have met up with him again before he left this place. But I think we will all meet again someday and have the grandest reunion ever.
One of the things that Arden and I did in elementary school (Lear North I believe) was to put on a "concert" for the other kids. This was mostly his idea. Neither of us could really play or sing very well, but I remember playing the piano (treble clef only and very poorly) and Arden playing the harmonica. It was great fun and one of those childhood memories from so long ago that has stuck in my mind. Arden was not afraid to try anything.
One of the songs we muddled through was called "Gentle on My Mind". I think this tune was a favorite of Arden's. And now, when I hear that soothing melody, I will remember Arden.
God rest your soul Arden. May God give you eternal peace and happiness.
Your old friend, Don DeCorte.
