February Events

  • Perinatal & Infant Loss
    Saturday, February 25, 2017 : 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

    Saturday Mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
    Registration is required and a mandatory intake meeting must be completed two weeks prior to group beginning.
    When parents are dealing with the death of a child, their grief can be complicated. With this in mind, Cornerstone of Hope has a group specifically for those who have experienced this monumental loss. General grief issues will be addressed, but we will also discuss the specific needs that arise after the death of an infant, whether through miscarriage, neo-natal, still birth or other infant loss (ages 2 and under). We invite you to attend and talk with others who have understand the depth of your grief.
    Open to all, regardless of ethnic, cultural and faith backgrounds. Led by professionally trained and experienced facilitators. Session is ten weeks in length and each meeting is 2 hours. Provided at no charge to you, and includes a light breakfast and free baby sitting is included if needed.

  • Lost A Loved One Serving In the Military Support Group
    Saturday, March 04, 2017 : 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

    TAPS is a tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one, regardless of the relationship to the deceased or the circumstances of the death. Founded in 1994, TAPS has established itself as the front line resource to the families and loved ones of our military men and women by providing comfort and care through comprehensive services and programs. TAPS is now partnering with Cornerstone of Hope for a continuous support group after hosting a Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in October 2013.

    We invite you to join us as we provide support, care and hope with resources, personal contact, fellow survivors in a spirit of friendship and understanding. You do not have to attend every month, just attend when you are available or feel that you need the support. Light refreshments will be provided and there is no cost to you.

    In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day we will be creating our very own "Pots of Gold!" Come and reflect on the special treasures in your life that you feel blessed to have. Register by February 28, 2017.

    Be with families who are also grieving the death of a loved one and make something special while building new memories and treasuring the past. Families who are grieving, whether or not they have used Cornerstone's services, are welcome. Programs are intended for children 5-18 and their parent or caregiver. Children may not attend workshops on their own. Cost is $10 per family and includes dinner (unless otherwise specified) and materials for the project. Register online at cornerstoneofhope.org.

  • Healing Arts Workshops-Kidz Art: Memory Weaving
    Tuesday, March 07, 2017 : 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

    Our lives are a tapestry of memories and experiences. What memories of your loved one make you smile? Are there things you wish you could tell them now? Weave your memories and wishes into a paper tapestry honoring your loved one. Ages 6+. Kids are invited to bring family members along for this workshop. Light refreshments provided.

    Healing Arts Workshops provide grieving people with a creative outlet for their grief and are open to the community. No art experience is necessary. Please call Mollie Postotnick at 216-486-6544 or email her at mpostotnick@hospicewr.org to register no later than four days in advance of workshop date. Suggested $5.00 donation for supplies.

  • Children's Grief Awareness Day

    Did you know that before graduating from High School, one in 20 children will have a parent die? This statistic doesn't even include children who may lose a brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a close friend at their school.   • International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day
    Saturday, November 18, 2017 : 12:00 AM

    International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is Saturday, November 18, 2017. Join with fellow loss survivors in your community. On Survivor Day, suicide loss survivors around the world gather at local events to share stories, gain insight, and find comfort in the knowledge that they are not alone.
    On Saturday, November 18, 2017 we are hosting a Survivor Day event near you. The day's program will include the screening of an AFSP produced documentary that will explore the grief and healing journey after a suicide from the perspective of a group of long-term loss survivors. Additional details about the event will be posted on afsp.org/SurvivorsDay in the coming months.
