    Bible Study will help you explore God's Word in light of grief and the spiritual issues that accompany it. It is a safe place to share your beliefs, and will help you build your relationship with God while building friendships. **You must have previously completed a Cornerstone of Hope Support Group in order to enroll in this group.
    Healing Heart Bible Study
    Cornerstone's Healing Heart Bible Study offers topical Bible study covering key elements of the grieving process. Studying the Bible can help in understanding God's role and power in our healing.
    Hope's Journey Bible Study
    This group is for people who have completed Healing Heart Bible Study. God's Word provides hope to continue on the journey. Hope's Journey Bible Study focuses on one book of the Bible through the lenses of the grief journey and hope's promise of healing.
    A light breakfast is provided.

    This group is for people who are ages 18-32 years old and grieving the loss of a loved one. This group brings people together, and because of their age, they are able to find a strong support system together.
    Open to all, regardless of ethnic, cultural and faith backgrounds. Led by professionally trained and experienced facilitators. Session is ten weeks in length and each meeting is 2 hours. Provided at no charge to you, and includes bakery and coffee.

  • Transcending Grief Series
    Tuesday, June 27, 2017 : 6:00 PM to Tuesday, August 22, 2017 : 8:00 PM

    Professionally led series to support the continuation of your grief journey. Participate each month or just attend topics that interest you. Fourth Tuesday of the month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., you must register for the topic(s) you plan on attending. There is a $10 per person fee, and coffee and bakery will be served.

    The groups for June, July and August will be a summer series on "The paradoxes of mourning, healing your grief with three forgotten truths." According to Dr. Alan Wolfelt, these three essential truths help us to dispel misconceptions and help us mourn well so we can live fuller lives. If you miss a session, we will recap the previous session so please attend when you are able.

    June 27, 2017-Truth One: Saying hello before you can say goodbye.
    July 25, 2017-Truth Two: Befriending the dark to find the light.
    August 22, 2017-Truth Three: Going backward to go forward.

  • Healing Arts Workshops-Art For Relaxation: Nature Prints
    Tuesday, June 27, 2017 : 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

    Its the beginning of summer and foliage is bursting forth! At this workshop, participants will use leaves, flowers, pine branches, ornamental grasses and other natural items with deep veins or texture to create prints. Bring some natural items of your own to experiment with.
    Healing Arts Workshops provide grieving people with a creative outlet for their greif and are open to the community. No art experience is necessary.     Over the past year, Cornerstone of Hope has recognized a great need for a support group for families that have lost a loved one to accidental overdose. This unique loss can leave families with many unanswered questions along with a myriad of difficult emotions. This group hopes to bring people together who have experienced similar losses, offer some education about the addiction process, offer support for the numerous emotional reactions to this particular loss, and provide some helpful insight into moving forward with hope.
    We provide the opportunity for you to join an inclusive group of individuals, who share common experiences.

  • Lost A Loved One Serving In the Military Support Group
    Saturday, July 01, 2017 : 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

    TAPS is a tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one, regardless of the relationship to the deceased or the circumstances of the death. Founded in 1994, TAPS has established itself as the front line resource to the families and loved ones of our military men and women by providing comfort and care through comprehensive services and programs. TAPS is now partnering with Cornerstone of Hope for a continuous support group after hosting a Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in October 2013.

    We invite you to join us as we provide support, care and hope with resources, personal contact, fellow survivors in a spirit of friendship and understanding. You do not have to attend every month, just attend when you are available or feel that you need the support. Light refreshments will be provided and there is no cost to you.

    A three day camp for children 8-17, which combines a traditional, fun camp with grief support and education. Adult "Big Buddy" volunteers offer support for campers. The mandatory pizza party will be held on Friday, July 28. Camp Erin Cleveland was created and is supported in part by The Moyer Foundation.

  • Family Workshops-Annual Hope Day Celebration

    Workshops give you an opportunity to be with families who are also grieving the death of a loved one. All families who are grieving, whether or not the have used Cornerstone's services, are welcome to attend. Most programs are intended for children 5-18 and their parent or caregiver.   • F.L.I.G.H.T.: Families Living In Grief And Healing Together

    This group is specifically designed for families that are grieving the loss of a loved one. Groups are divided by age, and Art Therapists and licensed Grief Counselors use art projects, games, stories and discussion to help you along your grief journey.

    6-12 years old, Kids Group
    13-18 years old, Teen Group
    18 and older, Adult Group

  • Joel's Place for Children-Children's Support Groups

    Support Groups
    Joel's Place provides services free of charge.
    We meet with families one-on-one to assess their needs.
    Twice monthly grief support groups are held on the West Side at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village for children 5-18 and their families.
    We also offer a support group for adults who bring children to Joel's Place. The adult sessions are held at the same time as the children's sessions.

    Group participants share their experience and learn from the experiences of others. Age-appropriate discussions, craft projects, games, and books are selected to facilitate the expression of feelings.
    While your children are participating in our groups, we are committed to providing a safe environment.
    All sessions are facilitated by two trained adults.
    Sessions are confidential.
    References and fingerprinting are required for all facilitators
    Joel's Place offers grief support groups. We do not offer therapy or counseling.

    How We Do It
    We train volunteer facilitators to accompany children and teens on their grief journey. Joel's Place is supported primarily by tax-deductible donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations. We are supported in the community by organizations who donate space for our groups and by volunteers who donate everything from professional skills to snacks and supplies.

  • Joel's Place for Children-Adult Support Group

    Adult Support Group

    Joel's Place for Children offers a support group for the caregivers of the children who attend our grief support sessions. This facilitated adult group meets numerous needs of its members as they share in a caring environment their own grief as well as that of their children. The group members experience the healing aspect of being with each other; with compassion they understand the gravity of their loss and the value of participating together in the process of moving through such profound grief. They walk a deeply meaningful path as they move forward with their lives that must now incorporate their loss.

    Be with families who are also grieving the death of a loved one and make something special while building new memories and treasuring the past. Families who are grieving, whether or not they have used Cornerstone's services, are welcome. Programs are intended for children ages 5-18 and their parent or caregiver.     Mapleside Family Day, Saturday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m.: Join us to celebrate fall by going on a hayride, jumping on the 70 foot pillow, wandering through the corn maze and enjoying all Mapleside's Pumpkin Village has to offer. Cornerstone provides snacks, beverages and face painting. Register by Friday, October 6th with the number of kids and adults in your family. Cost: $5 per family member 2 years old and older.

    Did you know that before graduating from High School, one in 20 children will have a parent die? This statistic doesn't even include children who may lose a brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a close friend at their school.   • International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day
    Saturday, November 18, 2017 : 12:00 AM

    International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is Saturday, November 18, 2017. Join with fellow loss survivors in your community. On Survivor Day, suicide loss survivors around the world gather at local events to share stories, gain insight, and find comfort in the knowledge that they are not alone.
    On Saturday, November 18, 2017 we are hosting a Survivor Day event near you. The day's program will include the screening of an AFSP produced documentary that will explore the grief and healing journey after a suicide from the perspective of a group of long-term loss survivors. Additional details about the event will be posted on afsp.org/SurvivorsDay in the coming months.
